I put this together a few months back and thought I should really get it on my blog.
Growing up going to church, then going back in my thirties I had been taking communion for a long time without really understanding why I was taking it.
I kinda thought I was just taking it to "remind" myself of what Jesus did for me. I didn't think there was any real meaning behind it.
I was wrong.
I was never really taught how to discern the Lords body.
I thought I would share with you all what I have learned, so you too can participate in the blessings of discerning the Lords body.
If you are interested, please read on! :)
God’s
nature is to heal.
(Yes, It really is. I too was taught that sometimes God gives us sickness to teach us things, or "allows" sickness in our lives, etc, etc..... that is wrong teaching, it is what Satan wants us to believe so we don't have faith for healing!)
Jesus said that when we see him, we
see the father.
John 14:9
9 Jesus said to him, “Have
I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen
Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
When Jesus walked the earth, most of his
miracles were in the area of healing. The bible says that Jesus went about doing
good and healing ALL who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
Acts 10:38
38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit
and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were
oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.
He did not
walk on water all the time, HE did not calm the storms all the time, but he healed
ALL the time!
When God
brought the children of Israel out of Egypt to bring them into the promise
land, he made sure that NONE of them were sick.
Psalm 105:37
37 He
also brought them out with silver and gold,
and there was none feeble among His tribes.
God’s word said that NONE were feeble; they
were all healed, healthy, and WHOLE. That was and is still God’s will for his
people today! All healed, healthy and whole!
So, if it’s God’s will, why is there
still believers that are sick?
The bible
gives ONE reason.
Paul says in
1 Cor 11:29
1 Corinthians 11:29-30
29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner[a] eats and drinks judgment to himself, not
discerning the Lord’s[b]body.
0 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many
sleep.
Paul said-
FOR THIS REASON~
NOT
DISCERNING THE LORDS BODY.
Failure
to know why they were partaking when
they came to the table.
So that
means, If we do discern the Lord’s body, we WILL walk in His health and
wholeness!
God does not
want us to put our trust in natural means to stay healthy.
2 Corinthians 10:4
4 For the weapons of our warfare are not
carnal
Trust in GOD
to keep you healthy, and God has ordained the Holy Communion as a key channel
of health and wholeness for his people.
Communion
Discerning
the Lords body
This has been
taught wrong in the church. We were taught that discerning meant we are too not
partake if we have sins in our life.
Paul was not
saying that we should not take if we are unworthy; rather he was saying do not
partake in an unworthy manner!!
The
Corinthians partook unworthily because they did not recognize that the broken
body of the Lord was meant to bring them health and wholeness.
They treated
it as a ritual and missed out on the blessing.
If your
attitude is “It’s just a piece of bread” then that’s what it WILL be.
Paul yelled
at them because when they came to the Lords table, those who were hungry rushed
for their turn, and others guzzled the wine until they became drunk. They were
not discerning the Power of the Lord’s broken body.
Jesus wants
us to take the bread and believe that His body was broken so that our bodies
can be made well, and when we discern it that way, we are partaking worthily.
Communion
Jesus told us
to “ remember” him by partaking of his body and blood.
Remember~
verb (used with object)
To recall to the mind by an act or effort of memory; think of again: To possess, or exercise; re-mem-ber
Luke 22:17-20
17 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take
this and divide it among yourselves; 18 for
I say to you,[a] I
will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
19 And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and
gave it to them, saying, “This
is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
20 Likewise He also took the
cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.
What does
he want us to remember? What did his body and blood on the cross do for us?
Isaiah
53:4-5
4 Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded for our
transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
Psalm 103:2-3
2 Bless
the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who
forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
His blood~
Sins forgiven
We are made
righteous
Washed daily
by his blood, ( like a rock in a flowing
river, constantly being washed)
Free of
condemnation and guilt.
His Body~
Healing.
Imparted
healing, strength, youth,
Brings
resurrection life
Like a transfusion
from Jesus into us.
freedom
From any
oppression from the devil.
Pain
Sickness
Weakness
Disease
Strongholds
Demons
Colossians 2:15
15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a
public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
By taking communion, we are also proclaiming
to the principalities and powers that they have been disarmed.
(Demons have
to flee)
Matthew 26:26
Jesus
Institutes the Lord’s Supper
26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed[a] and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take,
eat; this is My body.”
Jesus Body
was so full of health, that even his clothes were soaked with health!!!
(This is the
impartation or transfusion you want from Jesus! He is living in you!!! If you have him imparted in you, and he is
full of health and healing, YOU are full of health and healing! When you touch
someone they receive HIM, which is healing and deliverance. )
How often should we partake?
1 Corinthians 11:26
For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup,
you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.
Every day.
Take it
OFTEN. If you’re ill, take it like medicine. More than once a day.
Sometimes
healing may be instant, sometimes it may be gradual. Take it in faith. J
