Salvation/Sozo

Have you accepted Jesus? Have you received the gift that he gave you and taken it as your own?
If you have accepted Jesus into your heart, you have received  SO much more then a one way ticket to Heaven!

Take a look at what the word Saved means~

  1. to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction
    1. one (from injury or peril)
      1. to save a suffering one (from perishing), i.e. one suffering from disease, to make well, heal, restore to health
      2. to preserve one who is in danger of destruction, to save or rescue
    2. to save in the technical biblical sense
      1. negatively 1b
    3. to deliver from the penalties of the Messianic judgment 1b
    4. to save from the evils which obstruct the reception of the Messianic deliverance

Because of HIM we are righteous. He's so amazing.

Isaiah 53:3-11

He is despised and rejected by men,
A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
Yet He opened not His mouth;
He was led as a lamb to the slaughter,
And as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
So He opened not His mouth.
He was taken from prison and from judgment,
And who will declare His generation?
For He was cut off from the land of the living;
For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.
And they[a] made His grave with the wicked—
But with the rich at His death,
Because He had done no violence,
Nor was any deceit in His mouth.
10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him;
He has put Him to grief.
When You make His soul an offering for sin,
He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days,
And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.
11 He shall see the labor of His soul,[b] and be satisfied.
By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many,
For He shall bear their iniquities.

A teaching on taking Communion

I put this together a few months back and thought I should really get it on my blog.
Growing up going to church, then going back in my thirties I had been taking communion for a long time without really understanding why I was taking it.
I kinda thought I was just taking it to "remind" myself of what Jesus did for me. I didn't think there was any real meaning behind it.
I was wrong.

I was never really taught how to discern the Lords body.
I thought I would share with you all what I have learned, so you too can participate in the blessings of discerning the Lords body.

If you are interested, please read on! :)

God’s nature is to heal.

(Yes, It really is. I too was taught that sometimes God gives us sickness to teach us things, or "allows" sickness in our lives, etc, etc..... that is wrong teaching, it is what Satan wants us to believe so we don't have faith for healing!)

Jesus said that when we see him, we see the father.

John 14:9

Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

When Jesus walked the earth, most of his miracles were in the area of healing.  The bible says that Jesus went about doing good and healing ALL who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

Acts 10:38

38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

He did not walk on water all the time, HE did not calm the storms all the time, but he healed ALL the time!

When God brought the children of Israel out of Egypt to bring them into the promise land, he made sure that NONE of them were sick.

Psalm 105:37

37 He also brought them out with silver and gold,
and there was none feeble among His tribes.

God’s word said that NONE were feeble; they were all healed, healthy, and WHOLE. That was and is still God’s will for his people today! All healed, healthy and whole!

So, if it’s God’s will, why is there still believers that are sick?

The bible gives ONE reason.

Paul says in 1 Cor 11:29

1 Corinthians 11:29-30

29 For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner[a] eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s[b]body.
For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.

Paul said- FOR THIS REASON~
NOT DISCERNING THE LORDS BODY.

Failure to  know why they were partaking when they came to the table.

So that means, If we do discern the Lord’s body, we WILL walk in His health and wholeness!

God does not want us to put our trust in natural means to stay healthy.

2 Corinthians 10:4

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal

Trust in GOD to keep you healthy, and God has ordained the Holy Communion as a key channel of health and wholeness for his people.
Communion

Discerning the Lords body

This has been taught wrong in the church. We were taught that discerning meant we are too not partake if we have sins in our life.
Paul was not saying that we should not take if we are unworthy; rather he was saying do not partake in an unworthy manner!!
The Corinthians partook unworthily because they did not recognize that the broken body of the Lord was meant to bring them health and wholeness.
They treated it as a ritual and missed out on the blessing.
If your attitude is “It’s just a piece of bread” then that’s what it WILL be.

Paul yelled at them because when they came to the Lords table, those who were hungry rushed for their turn, and others guzzled the wine until they became drunk. They were not discerning the Power of the Lord’s broken body.

Jesus wants us to take the bread and believe that His body was broken so that our bodies can be made well, and when we discern it that way, we are partaking worthily.

Communion

Jesus told us to “ remember” him by partaking of his body and blood.
Remember~
verb (used with object)
To recall to the mind by an act or effort of memory; think of again:  To possess, or exercise; re-mem-ber

Luke 22:17-20

17 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves; 18 for I say to you,[a] I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
19 And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
20 Likewise He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.

What does he want us to remember? What did his body and blood on the cross do for us?

Isaiah 53:4-5

Surely He has borne our griefs
And carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.

Psalm 103:2-3

Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,

His  blood~
Sins forgiven
We are made righteous
Washed daily by his blood, ( like a rock in  a flowing river, constantly being washed)
Free of condemnation and guilt.

His Body~
Healing.
Imparted healing, strength, youth,
Brings resurrection life
Like a transfusion from Jesus into us.
 freedom

From any oppression from the devil.
Pain
Sickness
Weakness
Disease
Strongholds
Demons

Colossians 2:15

15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

By taking communion, we are also proclaiming to the principalities and powers that they have been disarmed.
(Demons have to flee)

Matthew 26:26

Jesus Institutes the Lord’s Supper

26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed[a] and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”

Jesus Body was so full of health, that even his clothes were soaked with health!!!
(This is the impartation or transfusion you want from Jesus! He is living in you!!!  If you have him imparted in you, and he is full of health and healing, YOU are full of health and healing! When you touch someone they receive HIM, which is healing and deliverance. )

 How often should we partake?

1 Corinthians 11:26

For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.

Every day.

Take it OFTEN. If you’re ill, take it like medicine. More than once a day.
Sometimes healing may be instant, sometimes it may be gradual. Take it in faith. J

Salvation/Healing

I am probably about to open up a big can of worms here, but that is OK!  Sometimes it's good to make people think about what they have been taught.
I just feel that I need to share what I have learned.

I have been a follower of Jesus for about 11 years? Maybe 12.  I grew up going to a Lutheran church, made my first communion and confirmation and never knew who Jesus really was until I was in my thirties. Pretty sad reality.
Anyway, For about 10 years, I had no idea that it was God's will for us to be healed. I mean physically and mentally, here on earth yes.
I had always heard " IF it's God's will" Or when people would pray they would say, " Lord, if it's  your will for this person to be healed, please heal them".

Three years ago I had cancer. I had wonderful support from my church, lots of love, they came around me and my family and they were the church! However, I do remember some of them praying, " IF it's your will for Amy to be healed"
Or " God, if it's your will for Amy to have a feeding tube".
I didn't know any differently.

In the last year I learned that it IS ALWAYS God's will for us to be Healed.
Wow.
I know it's a huge discussion and some don't believe it, and that's OK, I'm not trying to start a debate, but there are people who actually don't know this, who have never in their life heard this! I was one of them!

Sometimes we  need to search things out for ourselves. Sometimes we don't care enough to do that, until we get sick, or someone we know gets a life threatening illness. They you start asking questions and wondering things.

I am healed of my cancer. But when I had it, I didn't know he wanted me healed.

Let me share something with you.

If you look up a passage, say this one~

Romans 10:9

New King James Version (NKJV)
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Then you go to this website.....

http://classic.studylight.org/

and you go to the Interlinear bible on the side and click on it. Put in the verse.
You will see it there, and you can click on the word "Saved". Do that.
Guess what it says?

This is what SAVED means........

  1. to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction
    1. one (from injury or peril)
      1. to save a suffering one (from perishing), i.e. one suffering from disease, to make well, heal, restore to health
      2. to preserve one who is in danger of destruction, to save or rescue
    2. to save in the technical biblical sense
      1. negatively 1b
    3. to deliver from the penalties of the Messianic judgment 1b
    4. to save from the evils which obstruct the reception of the Messianic deliverance
 Translated Words

Is your head blowing off yet?

What does this mean? Jesus didn't just die so you can be forgiven of your sins and go to Heaven.
He also died for you to be Healthy. Whole. Well. Restored.

This was quite a shocker to me. A good shocker!

Here's a little tid bit I found on another blog ~

The little Greek word sozo in the New Testament means three things at once: to save, to heal and to set free. Depending on the context it is rendered as one or the other. But we miss out in the translation the fact that all three are part and parcel of the same deal: namely that Christ purchased all three for us by His blood shed on the cross.

This is consistent with what Isaiah says:

(Isa 53:5 NIV) But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Sozo appears 120 times in the New Testament. Here are a few examples:

Salvation
(Luke 19:10 NIV) For the Son of Man came to seek and to save (sozo) what was lost."

(John 3:17 NIV) For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save (sozo) the world through him.

(Rom 10:9 NIV) That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (sozo).

Healing
(Mat 9:21 NIV) She said to herself, "If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed (sozo)."

(Luke 17:19 NIV) Then he said to him, "Rise and go; your faith has made you well (sozo)."

(Luke 18:42 NIV) Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has healed (sozo) you."

Deliverance
(Luke 8:36 NIV) Those who had seen it told the people how the demon-possessed man had been cured (sozo).

(2 Tim 4:18 NIV) The Lord will rescue (sozo) me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

(Jude 1:5 NIV) Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord delivered (sozo) his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe.

Give credit where credit is due for that........

So, when you are sick, don't accept it as God's will. It's NOT. He wants you well. He wants you healed. It is ALWAYS his will for you to be healed. :)
Pray knowing that it is his will.

Praise Jesus for his body and blood!!!!! :)
